One Key Rewards
In August of 2023, Expedia launched One Key — our newest rewards program designed to allow travelers to earn OneKeyCash by booking through Exepdia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo. The campaign launched on social media with an announcement set up as a collaboration post between all three brands, allowing us to get in front of each brands’ audience for the first time ever. While Expedia and Hotels.com had existing rewards programs, Vrbo became the first ever vacation rental platform with rewards.
The kick off the launch of One Key, we shared a teaser post encouraging followers to check back for our biggest announcement yet, and a second post where we announced the campaign and gave away $60,000 in OneKeyCash — a years worth of travel! We continued to promote the campaign leveraging influencers who shared how they earned OneKeyCash for their next trip, as well as “Be the Booker” messaging encouraging followers to earn all the rewards by being the person to book their annual friends and family getaways. We found subtle ways to weave in rewards messaging into our always-on property content to continue promoting the campaign past its launch. We also tested giveaways supporting follower growth by offering new followers a chance to win $2,500 in OneKeyCash by leaving a comment telling us where they’d love to travel to next which also supported our engagement KPIs.
Overall, the campaign was very successful. All three brands saw strong growth and reach supported by our collaboration efforts. Vrbo was able to grow its Instagram by incentivizing people to follow us and we were able to retain them as customers by ensuring they were able to book travel with us through their newly awarded OneKeyCash.
